French, a Chicago native, became interested in beauty and fashion at a young age. Her high school offered a vocational program for beauty school and she took advantage of it. After high school graduation she attended Pivot Point International, a prestigious beauty school in Chicago. While working her way up through prestigious salons, including Vidal Sassoon, she developed her own creative philosophies on hair color as an accessory to personal style. She then joined Rusk, the premier hair care company. Rusk appealed to French's sense of individuality, as the company was pioneering non-traditional techniques to texturize and color hair.

PROFESSIONAL

As part of the Rusk team, French toured the country to teach creative techniques and designs to hairdressers as part of a new industry movement that cast away generally accepted philosophies of precision cutting and strict geometric lines in favor of ingenuity and artistic beauty aesthetics. She was promoted to Principle Director of the Rusk Advanced Academy, where for three years she continued teaching and was responsible for all of the academy's operations.

While teaching a seminar in Los Angeles, French met Nathan Sager at a nightclub and decided to relocate. She married Sager and continued working for the Rusk academy until 1997, when she joined her husband at a Beverly Hills salon. She began cultivating a following of prestigious clients, as her educational experiences proved her with an unparalleled foundation from which to design freely and creatively. Working together, the two built up a client base, and in 1999 established Sager French.

For French, the Sager French salon is a place where she and the other stylists share their knowledge and experiences, and work as a team to experiment with cutting-edge beauty. The team works like a family and has created a relaxed atmosphere that attracts award-winning hair stylists and a dedicated clientele, many of whom have relied on French's originality and expertise for over 10 years.
