Dia Dibble has been a professional makeup artist
for the news and entertainment industry for nearly 15 years. Born
and raised in Topeka, Kansas, she became interested in the arts
at a very young age, performing in plays in Jr. High, competing
in Debate and Forensics in High School, winning or placing in State
Championships each year, and singing and dancing in the school's
pop choir.
She graduated from Principia College, in Elsah, Illinois, with
a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and a Minor in Theatre
Arts. Internships and summer jobs in television production during
her senior year of college prepared her for her first parttime
job following graduation as a production assistant for a startup
cable network in Boston, Massachusetts called The Monitor Channel.
This led to a fulltime position as a stage manager for a live,
nightly, national cable news program.
Soon she was asked if she would be interested in learning the
craft of makeup for the same cable network and she was trained on
the job by an industry professional who later became her mentor.
Eventually she managed the entire makeup department, and was in
charge of the makeup design and for over 30 news anchors and television
hosts. Concurrently, at the same network, she became a news anchor
for a cable in the classroom program geared toward high school students.
After moving to Los Angeles in 1992, Dia transitioned from a fulltime
job to the life of a freelancer, pursuing both acting in theater,
television and film, and makeup for commercials, features, television
and print.
Over the last 9 years she has worked on numerous national television
commercials including CocaCola, American Express, Ford, Budweiser,
Crest, Volkswagon, Pizza Hut, Pepsi, Snickers, and Mobil. She designed
makeup for television specials seen on the Disney Channel, Comedy
Central, CBS, NBC, A&E, History Channel, Fox, and Lifetime. In print
she worked on campaigns for Kinkos, The Good Guys, Universal Studios,
and Smart & Final. She was the key makeup artist for the award winning
short film Nude Descending and makeup department head for the soon
to be released feature film Homeroom starring Erika Christiansen.
Her work on this film included wigs and special effects.
Over the years she has made up celebrities such as: Elton John,
Kevin Kline, James Woods, Shaquille O'Neill, Drew Carey, Gregory
Hines, Trisha Yearwood, Jean Stapleton, and Debbie Reynolds.
Her work runs the gamut from straight beauty makeup to character
design to special makeup effects. She has been trained to use an
airbrush, apply facial hair, wigs, tatoos, cuts, scars, and bruises.
She also specializes in body camouflage.
Recently she has begun a makeup consulting business designed to
teach and train women how to do their own makeup. It's tailored
to each woman's specific needs including makeup shopping sessions
and oneonone lessons with specific instructions. Her
upcoming website can be found soon at www.bleumascara.com.
